MISSION STATEMENT

The Mission of the Board of Christian Education for the First Congregational Church of Vernon is to help parents guide and nurture faithful, respectful, compassionate, loving and serving children of God with a full understanding of all the major Bible stories and the life lesson these stories are intended to teach. Furthermore, we intend to teach our students the value of being ethical, volunteering in their community, serving the younger and older members of their church family and offering grace and forgiveness in their everyday lives through the teaching and example of our beloved Jesus Christ. We will provide a comprehensive Confirmation of Faith opportunity when children reach 9th Grade and provide Adult opportunities for Bible Study and fellowship through Faith discussions enabling a healthy, happy, faith filled church body to thrive and learn in a welcoming environment.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION NEWS

by Debi Hockenberry, Director of Christian Education

Wow, we’re nearing the end of the Sunday School year and beginning to make plans for Children's Sunday! Take a look out in the Playground Garden and you'll see the children represented with stepping stones for the older kids and beautiful shells and rocks for the younger. Beautiful, new flowers will be popping up as well. Please check out all the work our kids put into their garden on Earth Day!

It's Vacation Bible School registration time. This year, VBS will be July 31-August 4. If you'd like a registration form for your child or a friend, you can find them on the counter in the church office. Any adults or teens who would like to volunteer for VBS are welcome! Please see Debi Hockenberry.

Our J*Walkrz are busy planning their mission trip to Washington DC with Reach Beyond Missions. Nine of of us are going and it should be educational and fun. We're rescheduling our Whale Watch this month and hope to schedule a Lazer Tag game in early June. Check your emails, please!

We're raising some awesome kids here at FCCV!

Come, Children, Sing to the Lord a Joyous Song!
by Althea Madigan, Junior Choir Director

Junior Choir is for children in grades K – 5 and we rehearse each Sunday after the church service (and a quick snack) at 11:30 a.m. for 20 to 30 minutes in the PF Room in Kellogg Hall. Rehearsals begin on Sunday, September 11.

Choirs provide music during worship services to lead a congregation in praise and prayer. Junior Choirs help raise up the next generation of church leaders. I love singing with young people and am looking forward to meeting your children in choir. New members are welcome!

Feel free to contact me with questions, suggestions or comments at 860-870-5185 (leave a message) or childsings@gmail.com.

May you have peace and a melody in your heart.

Our Toddler Room is staffed and open every Sunday from 9:45 AM until after the Worship Service for toddlers ages 12 months to 3 years. We also offer a Crib Room for infants up to 12 months and their parents that is located upstairs near the balcony. This offers you an opportunity to be with your child if you need to leave the worship service for any reason and still be able to hear the service. An usher will be happy to direct you if you are in need of assistance.
